Springfield Celebs Compete for Charity

Lung Association hosts 'Battle of the Bartenders' event to raise money for local lung health

This Thursday, April 26, local news anchors, rival football coaches and business leaders are coming together to support lung health. It’s all part of the American Lung Association in Illinois’ Celebrity Bartender Night, where notable residents will battle it out for the most tips to donate to the local non-profit.

“For the Springfield community, this event is a fun way to meet some local people and network, but also to help residents who suffer from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and other lung diseases,” said Monica Guerrant, special events manager for the Lung Association.

Local football coaches Ken Leonard and Derek Leonard, local media personalities Annice McEwan and Dee Dee Gatton, and many others will be serving drinks to guests. The bartender with the most tips at the end of the night will be crowned winner. Those who can’t attend the event can tip their favorite Springfield celebrity bartender online here.

The Celebrity Bartender Night will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. at Papa Frank’s in Springfield and is a free event. All tips and donations benefit the American Lung Association’s Springfield Golf Classic held on June 18, 2018 at Illini Country Club. Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised will fund local research, educational programs and advocacy efforts in the fight against lung disease.
