Teen Arrested After Woman, 24, Shot In Apartment: Police
The incident led to some St. Charles District 303 schools being placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.
ST. CHARLES, IL — A teen is in custody after a 24-year-old woman was shot in an apartment in St. Charles Wednesday morning.
Authorities were called to the apartment in the 1700 block of Covington Court at about 7 a.m. where they found the woman with two apparent gunshot wounds, police said. The shooter fled the scene after.
Nearby St. Charles District 303 schools were placed on lockdown as authorities searched the area. About 30 minutes later, police took a 17-year-old boy into custody, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

The woman was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva where she is in stable condition, according to authorities.
Police say the incident is believed to be isolated, and all involved knew each other.
