Son Charged In Stabbing Death Of Father: Authorities

KANE COUNTY, IL -- A 22-year-old man faces murder charges for killing his 60-year-old father at their home in unincorporated St. Charles Township early Sunday, prosecutors said Monday. John Shenko, on Longridge Road in St. Charles, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is expected to appear in bond court Tuesday morning. His father, Kevin Shenko, died from multiple stab wounds, according to the Kane County Coroner's office.
Kane County Sheriff's Office deputies were first called to 7N298 Longridge Road in unincorporated St. Charles Township at about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a person "screaming for help," according to police.
When authorities arrived, they found Kevin Shenko, who lived at the address with his son, lying on the ground outside their home. It appeared he had been stabbed and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

John Shenko was found outside the home and taken into custody, according to authorities. He is expected to appear for bond call at 8:30 a.m. at the Kane County Adult Justice Center, 37W777 Route 38 in St. Charles.
The incident remains under investigation.
