Woman, 69, Killed In Campton Hills Crash

The woman's Ford Escape collided with a semi-truck that was loaded with mulch on its trailer and weighed about 70,000 pounds.

CAMPTON HILLS, IL — A 69-year-old woman was killed in a fatal crash on Route 47 and McDonald Road Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 4:35 p.m. when a Ford Escape headed west on McDonald Road failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a semi-trailer truck, which was headed north on Route 47, according to a news release from the Campton Hills Police Department.

The Kenworth semi-trailer truck was loaded with mulch on its trailer and weighed about 70,000 pounds, according to a news release.

The driver of the Ford Escape was extricated from the vehicle and taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
