Man, 25, Killed In St. Charles Township Crash

KANE COUNTY, IL - A 25-year-old man is dead and another is being treated at a suburban hospital following a one-vehicle crash near St. Charles, authorities said Friday morning. The collision happened at about 4:10 p.m. Thursday when a silver Chevy Trailblazer heading north on Fox River Drive hit a tree on the west side of the road just south of Weber Drive in St. Charles Township, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, Austin B. Johnsen, 25, of Creston, and a passenger, Marcus E. Holtman, 26, of Sycamore, were both ejected from the SUV. Johnsen was taken to Delnor Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Holtman was taken by helicopter to Good Samaritan where he is being treated for his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
