2 Horses Saved From Barn Fire Thanks To Passerby

The good Samaritan, who first reported the fire, received minor injuries helping save the horses.

WAYNE, IL — Two horses are alive thanks to a good Samaritan who reported a fire on Country Club Road in rural Wayne, according to reports.

The Elgin Courier-News reported Fox River and Countryside Fire Chief John Nixon said the passerby, who initially reported the fire around 10:30 a.m., helped evacuate the horses.

Fire crews arrived six minutes later, but the structure was already 90 percent engulfed. They were dousing the structure for around an hour-and-a-half, the Courier-News reported. The barn collapsed 10 minutes into their efforts, according to Nixon.
