Living in the Midwest we never really know what we're going to get weather wise, and the summer is no different. As a Wardrobe and Beauty Stylist I'm asked what are some of my 'must-have' items each season, and decided to share my 3 can't-live-without items for the summer season. Here we go!:
1) Chic Sunnies
Find a pair that flatters YOUR face shape, that's the most important factor when finding a pair of sunglasses. However, I think sunnies (especially in the Summer) should be fun. They're an accessory that doesn't need to be totally 'serious' or 'professional' so why not go outside of your typical comfort zone and find something you may not normally wear. Personally, I love a big frame because they help keep a lot of the sun out. (Plus I feel extra CHIC in a big frame sunny)
2) Neutral Sandals
When I say neutral here, I mean nude - or something that closely matches your skin tone. So many of my clients never thought of wearing a 'nude' shoe but once I get them in a pair and they realize how FLATTERING and versatile they are I get emails and calls saying "You were so right, I can't believe I didn't have a pair in my closet sooner!" They become a staple in every woman's closet. Sandals are no exception to this rule in the summer. The best feature of a flesh-colored sandal/shoe is that they help elongate your leg line. Helping you look taller, longer, and leaner - all pluses, right?
3) Makeup Setting Spray
Ladies, we spend time on our makeup everyday so who wants to have it melt or sweat off in the heat and humidity? I know I don't. I will admit, before this summer I was never a setting spray kinda girl (probably because I never tried one). After finding a spray I like, I can't go a day without using it - especially on the extra humid or rainy days. It's comforting to know I can do my makeup ONCE during the day, and I won't go to the restroom in the afternoon and see half of what I applied gone.
