3 Ways to Dress Professionally in the Summer Heat

As a Personal & Fashion Stylist I'm asked a lot how to dress professional during the warm summer months.  It can be confusing when you go from cold air conditioning inside to hot and humid inside.  Here are 3 ways to dress for both conditions:

1) Layer, layer...did I say to layer?
Cardigans should be your BEST friend during this season.  They're awesome pieces to wear over virtually anything when you get a bit chilled inside in the air conditioning, and lightweight enough to take off and store in your bag when you're not wearing it outside.  They're also a great way to cover your shoulders if you need to cover a sleeveless dress or shirt in the office.

2) Dress in dresses
Dresses are the perfect summertime go-to.  Why, you ask?  Because they're so easy!  They're one piece, so you put the dress on...and you're dressed.  Get it?  How much more simple does it get?  Not much.  Even if you have just a couple dresses you can wear for work purposes during this season use accessories to change them up.

3)  Go LIGHT & BRIGHT
This goes for fabric and color.  Wearing all black and a lot of dark colors in the summer time feel heavy, opt for lighter and brighter colors instead to be more seasonably appropriate.  Don't forget to pay attention the the lightness of the fabric, as in the weight.  Choose fabrics like linen and cotton, anything that's airy and doesn't 'stick' so that you don't get overheated because of a heavy fabric.

What's your typical Professional summer wardrobe?  Do you have any go-to's for the season?
