UPDATE: North Boys Cross Country Takes Top Spot at Invite
St. Charles North's Billy Clink and Sydney Stuenkel are among the top cross country finishers Saturday morning at the Leavey Invitational at Leroy Oaks Forest Preserve.
St. Charles North boys grabbed a first place finish during Saturday's St. Charles East Jeff Leavey Cross Country Invitational.
About 1,500 runners were registered from area high schools to compete in the annual event held at Leroy Oaks Forest Preserve in St. Charles.
St. Charles East boys finished 11th out of the 20 teams competing. For the girls, North took fifth place while East finished 15h overall.

North's junior Sydney Stuenkel finished 10th overall among girls varsity. Stuenkel, who ran on the varsity as a freshman, did not compete in cross country as a sophomore last season but is back in the fold again in 2010.

St. Charles East's top runner was senior Gina Bartindale.
On the boys' side, St. Charles North junior Billy Clink finished fourth individually. Ryan Senci and Declan Duggan were the North Stars' 2-3 runners.
St. Charles East's Mike Rykoskey led the way for the Saints, while senior Bill Koskiewicz, competing in his first varsity cross country race, was a surprise top finisher for Geneva.
Geneva High School's Tess Ehrhardt, Liza Tauscher and Rachel Hammond turned in top-10 finishes.
Competing in ideal conditions at picturesque LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, Ehrhardt was the Vikings' top finisher in the girls' 3-mile varsity race, placing second to Bartlett's Alyssa Schneider.
Senior teammates Tauscher and Hammond were sixth and ninth, respectively, for coach Bob Thomson's Vikings, who placed fifth in the Class 3A state meet a year ago.
