Additional Outdoor Dining Space In St. Charles Continues Through November

The City Council voted to extend the expanded outdoor dining program through Nov. 30.

At the Oct. 19, 2020, City Council meeting, aldermen voted to extend the special temporary outdoor dining program through Nov. 30, 2020. Restaurants and bars offering expanded outdoor dining must follow all requirements of the Governor’s Executive Orders, as well as requirements from state and county health agencies, and the CDC. The outdoor dining program, originally approved at a special City Council meeting June 29, 2020, was set to expire Oct. 30, 2020.

  • 1st Street: The two plazas off of 1st Street offer outdoor dining space for adjacent restaurants and tables for general public use.
  • Parking Lots and Sidewalks: Restaurants may continue to use parking lots for outdoor dining, subject to meeting certain permitting requirements for access and parking availability.. Restaurants also may use public sidewalks for outdoor dining, subject to permitting requirements, including maintaining an open walking path for pedestrians.
  • Walnut Avenue: A portion of Walnut Avenue also is closed to accommodate outdoor dining.
