Allstate Agent Katlyn Eggar Providing Complimentary "The Silver Lining Companion Guide" for Those Affected by Breast Cancer

St. Charles entrepreneur Katlyn Eggar distributing free guide, demonstrates Allstate's support for the wellbeing of women

Allstate recently announced its partnership with bestselling author Hollye Jacobs and a commitment to provide complimentary versions of “The Silver Lining Companion Guide” to any person in the U.S. diagnosed or affected by breast cancer. The guide is now available for pick up at participating distribution centers, including the Katlyn Eggar Allstate Agency, along with several other agencies across Chicagoland. A full list of participating agencies and distribution centers and a downloadable version is available at Allstate.com/SilverLining.

“The Silver Lining Companion Guide” was specially created by Jacobs and Allstate to provide important information, practical tips and inspiration for those navigating through every stage of cancer treatment and recovery. Allstate is providing the guides for free to help support those facing breast cancer and to support women’s health and wellbeing.

“As a local business owner, I feel a strong connection to the people I serve and I am committed to being a force for good in my community,” said Eggar. “And with the recent breast cancer diagnosis of my sister-in-law, I feel particularly passionate about making this heartfelt contribution toward the wellbeing of women more readily available.”

Eggar’s sister-in-law, Jessica O’Neill, detected her own cancer at just 33 years old. Although it was found at stage one she has an aggressive form of the disease and has inspired many through social media (you can follow Jessica’s story at www.facebook.com/supportingjess).

“She is too young to have to face this battle but we know she will conquer her cancer with strength and grace,” Eggar said. “I always have been an advocate for women’s wellbeing, however this further solidifies my passion for helping others through these difficult times. Having this book available at my office is one way I am proud to help.”

The guide is a condensed version of Jacob’s New York Times bestselling book, “The Silver Lining: A supportive and Insightful Guide to Breast Cancer.” Jacobs was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 at the age of 39. She is a mother, speaker, nurse, social worker and child development specialist. In the guide, Jacobs brings both her medical background and personal experience to provide helpful advice, information and inspiration for anyone affected by breast cancer.

“Sharing advice and support through the partnership with Allstate and its agencies with ‘The Silver Lining Companion Guide’ is an incredible and unique opportunity to reach everyone impacted by breast cancer,” said Hollye Jacobs, RN, MS, MSW. “I wish I had this guide when I was going through my breast cancer experience. The absence of this resource is what inspired me to write the book and to ultimately support the health and wellbeing of all women, especially those who are going through the most challenging of life circumstances.”

Allstate is proud to partner with Jacobs thanks to the help of local Allstate agents in communities nationwide, and to provide this valuable resource to individuals impacted by cancer. For more information or to get the free companion guide, visit Allstate.com/SilverLining.
