Amid Continued 'Harassment,' D303 School Board Member Resigns

Carolyn Waible announced Tuesday she'd be stepping down from her post on the school board.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A District 303 school board member has stepped down from her post after experiencing "unrelenting harassment" from the community during her tenure.

In a statement, Carolyn Waibel said the harassment comes at a "volatile time in our district, community, state and country" but also said she feels District 303 officials should take more proactive measures to ensure school board members safety.

"Someone has harassed me in my face walking into meetings when I was on a walker, I've had dead animals thrown into my driveway, my house has been vandalized, I've been followed and videotaped in a grocery store shopping with my son, my home was broken into, my car was vandalized and these people continue to libel me," Waibel said during the public comments portion of Tuesday's school board meeting.
