Flick’s body was recovered from the Fox River on July 1, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office. Her preliminary cause of death has been determined to be drowning.

According to her obituary, Flick is survived by her husband of nearly 21 years and their three children. She spent her entire life in St. Charles, growing up in the same home where she later raised her family with her husband, whom she attended St. Charles East High School with.

Flick is being remembered as someone who opened her home and heart to others, cooking meals for neighborhood children and offering support to those in need.

“She was a mother to all, a woman who opened her arms to anyone in need,” her obituary said. “Amanda was a simple woman, with the kindest of hearts, loving and welcoming to any who found their way on her doorstep.”

Toxicology samples collected during Flick’s autopsy were sent to a national forensic laboratory for additional testing. The investigation into her death remains ongoing, according to the coroner’s office.
