KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Board approved a roughly $2.3 million increase in the county's property tax levy for taxes to be paid in 2027.
The total levy will be about $64.9 million, with nearly $40 million going to the county's general fund, the Aurora Beacon-News is reporting. The increase is part of the county's effort to address budget problems and avoid continuing to rely on cash reserves to balance its budget.
The board last week approved a $402.9 million budget for the fiscal year beginning Dec. 1, with the property tax increase helping balance the spending plan. However, the amount individual property owners will pay has not yet been determined, according to the article.
