ST. CHARLES, IL — A section of South 3rd Street in St. Charles will be closed Sept. 14 and 15 as crews complete water improvement work at the intersection with Indiana Street, city officials said.
The closures will be in place during the day and overnight as part of the city's 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project. Crews will replace aging fire hydrants, inoperable valves and watermain valves and relocate water mains that run through the storm sewer system to comply with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency regulations, according to city officials.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes while the work is underway.
On-street parking along South 3rd Street will also not be available during the day while crews are working, according to city of St. Charles officials.
