ST. CHARLES, IL—The New Kid On The Block and former Playboy Playmate of the Year have listed their St. Charles estate for sale for just under $2.799 million. The home was officially listed Wednesday by eXp Realty.
St. Charles' most prominent couple—Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy—are selling the home after 11 years in the Fox River Valley town, where it's nestled on a wooded 1.25-acre lot in the exclusive Fox Glen subdivision.
According to Crain's, the house is owned in a trust designed to conceal their names in public records, but the Wahlbergs "have made little effort to hide their identities in the new listing." They're not the first celebrity couple to land in St. Charles either. Beach Boy and musical genius Brian Wilson lived there from 1997 to 2001.
Wahlberg gained fame in the late 1980s and 1990s, along with his friends, when they formed the New Kids On The Block boy band in Dorchester, MA. The kids still have some October concerts remaining in their "Right Stuff" Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
Evergreen Park native and Mother McAuley alumna McCarthy got her big break in 1993 posing for Playboy. After copping Playmate of the Year in 1994, she went on to become an actress, model, television personality and anti-vaccine activist when her son was born with autism. Today she says she was advocating for safer vaccines and more parental control, not opposing vaccines. McCarthy is currently a permanent judge on the Fox Network's "The Masked Singer."
The couple married in 2014 and bought the St. Charles estate for $1.1 million in 2015, proclaiming to People Magazine in 2019, "There is no greater symbol of our love." Located 43 miles west of Chicago's Loop, the house has four bedrooms, six baths and a swimming pool.
Built in 1996, the home boasts 7,236 square feet, soaring floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the woods, a remodeled kitchen, an expansive living room, a screening room and dining room, with plenty of space for entertaining and gracious living.
Other notable details from the eXp realty photo spread include a basement bar worthy of any fine hotel, stained glass windows, dark oak paneling and an office laden with awards from the entertainment industry. The master bedroom offers a romantic refuge, overlooking trees, with a dressing room and master bath including soaking tubs and massive walk-in closets.
The Wahlbergs haven't commented on why they decided to sell the home, whether they plan to find another manse in the area, or move closer to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. "The Masked Singer" recently announced plans to move production to East Rutherford, NJ, starting in season 15 because of better tax incentives.
