has delivered a brand new Toyota Highlander Hybrid on Friday October 14th. As part of Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” program, the Anderson Animal Shelter is one of only six recipients in the state of Illinois to win this program.
“We are delighted to have won this car for the shelter and are thrilled that we have a vehicle designated to help us get animals to veterinary appointments, rescue animals from very high-kill facilities, and pick up donations given to us by the community,” said shelter Executive Sandy Shelby. “Thank you, Toyota and all the people that voted for us on Facebook! This car is a wonderful gift to help our animals.”
The Toyota “100 Cars for Good” program consisted of 100 winning non-profit organizations receiving a new Toyota vehicle after being picked by voters on Toyota’s Facebook page. Five organizations were profiled per day and the voting took place from May 9 through August 16. Of the 500 finalists from around the country, 100 winners were chosen. Toyota is very happy to bring these very deserving organizations a quality vehicle to be used for their missions.

“Congratulations to the Anderson Animal Shelter and all of its members and volunteers,” said Michael Alf, general manager of St Charles Toyota. “It is exciting to have one of the winners located within the communities we serve as well as being customers of St. Charles Toyota for years. I know the vehicle is being put to good use for a great cause.”
Anderson Animal Shelter has been serving the Fox Valley area since it was founded in 1966. AAS is an independent, non-profit organization that rescues approximately 2,500 animals per year, over half of whom are strays or unwanted pets that come to us in need of shelter and veterinary care while they await new homes. The remaining 1,200 animals are served through low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics and dog training programs. Anderson also offers humane education programs and numerous volunteer opportunities for adults and children.
The Shelter operates under a maximum adoptability philosophy and is dedicated to eliminating the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals. Every adoptable animal at the shelter is taken care of for as long as it takes to find them a loving home forever.
Anderson Animal Shelter receives no state or federal funding and must rely on the generosity of individual, corporate and foundation donors that share in the belief that every animal deserves a loving home
