(St. Charles, IL) May 2, 2017--As President Donald Trump gave Americans his goals for his awaited tax plan, Apex CPAs & Consultants in St. Charles addressed certain points at its quarterly “Partners in Growth” presentation to an audience of local business owners and leaders at the St. Charles Country Club.

Lucas VanDeWoestyne, Apex’s director and chief operation officer, gave detailed descriptions of some of President Trump’s ideas that affect businesses and individuals. Some of those details include reducing the seven tax brackets to three tax brackets of 10 percent, 25 percent and 35 percent for individual families, especially those in the middle class; eliminate special interest loopholes to make the business tax rate more competitive and reducing the cost of childcare by allowing families to fully deduct the cost from their taxes.

VanDeWoestyne estimated that the tax plan will go into effect by August, though he admits this is optimistic. The major concern he hears from people about this tax plan was the effect that reducing tax rates will have on tax revenues and the national debt/deficit.

“We, in the United States, have some of the highest tax rates in the world, especially at the business level, he said. “People are excited to have a little bit of that burden taken off from them.”

He does opine that President Trump may have to compromise most of his business tax rate to perhaps 20 percent. The president’s plan outlines a 15 percent business tax rate.

“I think the 15 percent rate is too far from the highest individual bracket to be fiscally responsible,” VanDeWoestyne explained. “I think at 20 percent or even 25 percent he can get more buy in from the legislators, still benefit business owners, and have a lesser effect on tax revenue that could be offset by growth of the economy.”

Apex’s next “Partners in Growth” presentation will be in August with details to be announced. For more information about Apex CPAs & Consultants at http://www.apexcpas.com/.
