Bella Yakos, 8-Year-Old With Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, Is Surprised With $19,080 Check
The Goddard School In Elgin, Along With The Local Community, Raised Money In An Effort To Help Bella's Medical Treatments
On Saturday, October 24th, 8-year-old Bella Yakos and her family received a heartwarming surprise during the annual Fall Festival at The Goddard School located in Elgin, IL. Bella, who was diagnosed last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, was presented a $19,080 check by The Goddard School owners and staff, as well as the Elgin community, to help her and her family with costs for her upcoming treatment.
Sheryl Nelson, owner of The Goddard School in Elgin, said that as a mother of two daughters, the Yakos family’s plight stuck home for her. With the help of the childcare facility, local businesses and the loving community, they were able to raise money for Bella and her family through “Bella’s Lemonade Stand” in August.
More than 200 people were in attendance at the festival to witness this uplifting moment while enjoying fun Fall activities for the whole family.
