Big Ten Coach of Year to Host Swim Clinics in Memory of Drowning Victim

The Pauly D Foundation has organized the clinics in memory of a 4-year-old St. Charles Township boy who drowned in 2014.

ST. CHARLES, IL - Swim clinics organized by the Pauly D Foundation, a fundraising effort set up in memory of a 4-year-old St. Charles Township boy who died in a drowning in June 2014, will be held this weekend in St. Charles and Aurora.

Bill Wadley, the men's swimming coach at Ohio State University, will be the featured clinician at the clinics, which will both be held on April 23. The first swim clinic, which will be held with the St. Charles Swim Team, will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Norris Rec Center, 1050 Dunham Road in St. Charles. The second will be held with the Academy Bullets Swim team from 3 to 5 p.m. at Marmion Academy, 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora. Swim Stroke Doctor, LLC will provide high performance video analysis during this event.

Wadley is considered one of the most experienced and respected mentors in the world of competitive swimming and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2010.

"When Coach Bill heard the story of Pauly and the mission behind the Pauly D Foundation, he knew right away that he wanted to help make a difference," according to information posted on the Pauly D Foundation website. "The partnership with the Pauly D Foundation will allow underprivileged children access to swim lessons that they normally could not afford. The Pauly D Foundation will help to provide funding for swim lessons for low-income families in the Ohio Head Start program."

The clinics will raise funds for the Pauly D Foundation. The Foundation was set up in memory of Paulino DelleGrazie, a 4-year-old St. Charles Township boy who drowned at the Royal Fox Country Club on June 14, 2014. The foundation advocates for water safety and prevention.

Those attending Saturday's clinics are asked to make a $25 donation to attend. Those interested in attending can sign up for the clinics here.
