Bug Infestation Not to Blame for Work on St. Charles Retention Pond
The St. Charles Public Work Department is completing grading work on the pond at Foxfield and Stuarts drives

Rumors have been swirling recently regarding the reasons for work being done on a retention pond located at Foxfield and Stuarts drives on the east side of St. Charles.
Some thought that a bug infestation was to blame for the St. Charles Public Works Department undergoing upgrades to the pond, the Daily Herald reports. But, A.J. Reineking, public works manager for the city, told the newspaper that was not the case.
Reineking explained the pond has had serious erosion along its shoreline, resulting in 3- to 4-foot vertical drop offs in some places, which is not only dangerous but could cause issues for nearby roads. The city could risk losing some of those roadways, which include the access road into Jewel retail area and the Charlestowne Mall, Reineking told the Daily Herald.
