I’m writing to share a powerful story of hope and community support that I believe would inspire your audience.
Two-and-a-half-year-old Oliver, the grandson of a dear friend, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on his first birthday. He endured 7 months of intensive chemotherapy, facing severe complications like heart failure, kidney damage, and numerous infections. Now, a year in remission and thriving, Oliver’s recovery is a cause for celebration.
As Oliver battled his illness, I supported his family through prayer chains and fundraisers. Once I learned he was in remission, I vowed to organize a motorcycle rally in his honor when his immune system could handle such an event, knowing his deep love for motorcycles. I reached out to my friend Chris Hansen, President of DuKane Abate of Illinois, with a single phone call—and that sparked an incredible movement.
On June 22, we will "Ride for Oliver", a massive event celebrating his journey. The rally will begin at noon at the Sycamore Library (103 E State St, Sycamore, IL 60178) and end with a special tour for Oliver at the St. Charles Motorcycle Museum (1317 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174).
This event brings together an amazing group of participants—local motorcycle clubs, law enforcement, veterans, and business owners—all riding to honor Oliver’s resilience.
This event is a testament to the strength of our community, and I believe it’s a story of unity and compassion.
