CASA Kane County:CASA Kane County will host its Fall Educational Conference on Friday, September 6th at the Meyers Ballroom at the Paramount Theater in downtown Aurora. The organization is thrilled to be bringing back Jodi Pfarr to once again present on “Bridges Out of Poverty.” Social service providers, community members and CASA/GAL volunteers who attend will learn valuable key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Topics include increasing awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences affect various opportunities for success.

Jodi Pfarr holds a Master of Divinity degree and is formerly a certified critical debriefer and chaplain with the St. Paul Police. She served as executive director of Emma Norton Services, providing housing to single women with issues around low income, mental illness, and/or chemical dependency.

CASA Kane County is grateful to the conference sponsors: The Kane County Regional Office of Education; Inc Board, NFP; West Aurora School District 129; and the City of Aurora. For more than 30 years, CASA Kane County has been recruiting, training and supervising community volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) and the Guardians ad Litem (GALs) for children in court due to abuse, neglect or private guardianship. The CASA/GAL volunteer acts as the eyes and ears of the Judge to help make the best decision for a safe, caring and permanent home for each child. The organization serves 100% of all abuse/neglect and private guardianship cases in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Kane County and has been doing this since 2002. CASA Kane County's 250 active CASA/GAL volunteers advocate for more than 500 children annually.
