St. Charles' Charlestowne Mall To Close Inside Of Mall
The anchor stores like Von Maur and Carson's, with entrances on the outside of the mall, will stay open.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The Charlestowne Mall is closing its interior shops and enclosed mall space, according to a press release, on Dec. 1, though some of the mall's retail stores will remain open.
The mall anchors Von Maur, Carson's and Classic Cinemas will stay open and will only be accessible from the outside doors of the mall. Access roads and parking lots will stay open, as well.
The press release said Cooper's Hawk, Starbucks and the new Verizon store will all be unaffected by the mall closure.

A plan presented to the St. Charles City Council in May included keeping portions of the mall building but reducing its size significantly. Chuck May, the project manager of The Krausz Companies, who owns the mall, said an enclosed mall is no longer viable at its location.
They will continue to work with co-developers and the City of St. Charles on the residential, retail and commercial redevelopment of the site, the press release said.
