City Council Approves 78 New Single-Family Homes on Vacant St. Charles Lot

Developers had once proposed building apartments at the site but a new plan calls for single-family homes instead.

ST. CHARLES, IL - Seventy-eight single-family homes will be built on a 22.6-acre vacant lot north of Woodword Drive in western St. Charles, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

The plot had at one point been eyed for apartments but the revised plan, which was approved by the St. Charles City Council last week, now calls for the development of the homes and will include a connection to the Great Western Trail, a one-acre park and a sidewalks on both sides of the street. The development is part of the Corporate Reserve of St. Charles, according to the Kane County Chronicle.
