City of St. Charles to Host Arbor Day Celebration April 28

Enjoy art, music, a tree raffle, free perennial giveaways, tree care demonstrations, educational materials for homeowners, and food & drinks

St. Charles, Ill. (March 10, 2017) – The City of St. Charles will host its annual Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 28th at 4:00 p.m. in Lincoln Park on Main Street west of Route 31. This event is organized by the Tree Commission of St. Charles. Everyone is invited!

Enjoy art, music, a tree raffle, free perennial giveaways, tree care demonstrations, educational materials for homeowners, refreshments and special tree related programs. Entries from “Diversity in the Urban Forest” participants will also be displayed at this event. Also, in honor of Arbor Day, a special tree will be planted and dedicated at Davis Primary School.

St. Charles is a Tree City USA community, recognized for its commitment and care of trees. The City’s urban forestry program promotes tree species diversity in our parks, natural areas and neighborhood parkways. Since 1998 St. Charles has held an Arbor Day celebration supporting tree education and stewardship. Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, and St. Charles continues this tradition celebrating the connection between trees and people and the many benefits of trees.
