Classic Cinemas To Reopen Most Theaters As IL Enters Phase 4
The company is set to limit capacity to no more than 50 people, with guests asked to wear masks until they reach their seats.
ILLINOIS — Classic Cinemas is preparing to reopen most of its theaters in Illinois on Friday as the state reaches the next phase of its reopening plan amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Ten Classic Cinemas locations will reopen Friday, with the Lake in Oak Park scheduled to reopen July 10, the company said.
The Meadowview Theatre in Kankakee will reopen later this summer but it is unclear when the Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove will welcome back customers, after Classic Cinemas said in a Facebook post that the theater would have to reopen at 5 percent capacity under current restrictions.

Showtimes will be staggered so workers can sanitize auditoriums in between screenings, and social distancing will be enforced inside theaters, according to the company’s reopening plan. Customers can still get free drink refills, but they will receive a new cup each time.
