Colorful Adirondack Chairs in St. Charles on Display Through Thursday

The chairs will be up for auction through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The colorful and creative Adirondack-style chairs that have been on display this summer in St. Charles will soon be taken down.

Over 100 chairs were painted and decorated by local businesses, groups, schools and local artists as part of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership’s ”Chair-ity” program. The chairs will remain on display through Thursday. They are found throughout downtown with several found at the municipal building, the 1st street plaza and along the Bob Leonard walkway.

“The Chair-ity initiative this summer was a wonderful promotion by the Downtown Partnership. Not only did it provide color, conversation and creativity, but was a great fundraiser for downtown promotion. My thanks to those who took the time to donate and design,” said St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina.

The auction will be live through 5 p.m. Tuesday. Bids can be made by visiting the auction site: http://chair15.myab.co. All of the proceeds from the auction will go back into the beatification of the New Volunteer Plaza north of the Municipal Building.

“We were thrilled to see how the community really embraced this program,” said Lynne Schwartz, Executive Director of the DSCP. “We had a dedicated group of volunteers, wonderful cooperation from the City and our community partners, and a high level of participation from the community. The participants really took pride in their chairs, as you can see by the quality and creativity of the artwork. It was so much fun to see people sitting in the chairs throughout the summer.”
