Coroner IDs H.S. Students Killed In Crash Near South Elgin High School

Tahlulay Henry, 16, of Elgin, and Kamorra Campbell, 17, of Bartlett, were killed in the Thursday morning crash.

SOUTH ELGIN, IL — The two South Elgin High School students killed in a crash near the high school Thursday morning have been identified.

The collision happened at about 7 am. at the intersection of Route 25 and Kenyon Road when a 2002 Honda Civic collided with a 2007 Mack semi-tractor trailer, according to a news release from the village of Bartlett.

Four South Elgin High School students were in the Honda Civic. Two female passengers in the Civic were killed in the collision — one was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to authorities.

Tahlulay Henry, 16, of Elgin, has been identified as the passenger who died at the scene, according to a news release from the Kane County Coroner's Office. And Kamorra Campbell, 17, of Bartlett, was identified as the girl who died at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show both girls died from multiple injuries sustained due to a vehicle collision, according to the coroner's office.

The female driver of the car, another female passenger in the car and the male driver of the semi-tractor trailer were all take to area hospitals with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The School District U-46 Crisis Team has been activated at South Elgin High School.

The Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team is assisting Bartlett Police Department with the investigation.
