D303 Board Salutes High School Athletes in St. Charles

Superintendent Dr. Donald Schlomann's report to the Board of Education focuses on the accomplishments of the St. Charles North and St. Charles East teams that made it to the state semifinals.

Amid the budget hearing and parents protests against plans to cut a first-grade class at Lincoln Elementary School, the St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 Board of Education on Tuesday took time to hear the taes of success from high school sports teams.


So it was that an array of teenagers from the district’s two high schools joined the teachers, administrators, parents and media in the audience during the meeting in the Administration Center, where they were introduced to the board by their coaches.


Todd Weimer, for instance, introduced his St. Charles North boys volleyball team, which placed third in state.

Kelly Horan introduced the St. Charles East girls softball team she shepherded to a second-place finish in IHSA Class 4A state competition.


Len Asquini introduced the East baseball team, which took third in state.

The coaches were understandably proud — as were the kids, some of whom will be headed to college in the fall.
