D303 Unveils Thompson Middle School Renovations
An open house this week will give the community a peak inside the updated Thompson Middle School.
ST. CHARLES, IL — The St. Charles community is invited to an open house at the newly renovated Thompson Middle School this week. District 303 will be hosting the open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20, according to a news release from the school district.
The renovation project, which began in the summer of 2017, added air conditioning, 31 new classrooms, 11 new science labs, a new auxiliary gym, expanded cafeteria and a new track and field area. In addition, the newly constructed bus drop-off and pick-up area behind the school are meant to improve traffic flow on Indiana and 7th streets.
After a short ceremony at 5:30 p.m., 8th grade students from the "Where Everybody Belongs"
(WEB) program conducted tours of the new facility. Student performances will be held
throughout the building, and historical artifacts dating back to the days of Thompson High School will be on display.
