Dates Announced For Community Garage, Anything On Wheels Sales

This year's community garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27 and April 28.

ST. CHARLES, IL – For those unloading all that stuff they no longer need during spring cleaning, the St. Charles Park District's Community Garage Sale may be the perfect place to get rid of it. The two-day event will help raise funds for the park district's popular teen center, STC Underground, according to a news release. This year's community garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28.

You can keep all the profits from your sale while the proceeds of the registration fees help support STC Underground's dynamic roster of programs and activities for all middle and high school students, ages 11 to 19 years, residing within Community Unit School District 303 boundaries.

Registration fees are $20 for Early Bird rates effective until April 20 and $30 from April 21 to 25. Those fees entitle each participant to have their address listed in the event promotion guide, which is distributed throughout the community and viewable online, according to the news release.

Sellers also receive a promotion kit that includes attention-getting yard signs and balloons. Ads in local and Chicagoland newspapers also help drive buyers to the event, which included more than 100 homes last year.

Participants may pick up their information packet, yard sign and balloon at the STC Underground on Thursday, April 26 between 1 and 9 p.m.

On the same Saturday, April 28, the Anything on Wheels Sale will take place at Baker Community Center, 101 South Second Street.

"If it goes - it goes," according to a news release.

With the exception of those vehicles that require title transfers, such as motorcycles, cars, and trucks, anything that rolls on 2, 4, or more wheels is eligible for the sale - bicycles, tricycles, skateboards, strollers, in-line skates, scooters - even pull-behind golf carts, according to a news release.

Participants set their own prices for the items they plan to sell, and recoup 80 percent of the revenue generated, with the balance going to the park district to help defray the administrative and marketing costs of running such a sale.

Interested parties can drop off their gently used items at the Baker Community Center between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on the day of the sale. Park district employees will be on hand to help unload and set up items.

Merchandise that has not been sold must be picked up between noon and 1 p.m. on the same day. Unsold or unclaimed items will be donated by the park district to a local charity.

Typically, about 100 items are on display during the "Anything On Wheels" sale. There is no limit on the number of pieces an individual can bring in for sale, although anything offered for sale needs to be in good repair.
