Daycare Teacher Gave Laxatives To 3 Small Children: St. Charles Police

Police said the three children are all age 2 and younger.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 23-year-old daycare teacher is facing charges after police say she gave chewable laxatives to at least three young charges at a St. Charles daycare facility, police said.

Multiple parent contacted police on Tuesday morning, alleging that their children were given the laxatives by a daycare teacher at a facility in the 2400 block of West Main Street.

Police said their investigation confirmed the incidents had occurred to three young victims, who are all age 2 or younger.

The teacher, identified as Yizel J. Juarez of Sycamore, is charged with three counts of attempted aggravated battery - bodily harm to a victim under 13—and three counts of endangering the life and health of a child. All charges are Class A misdemeanors.

Juarez turned herself in to the St. Charles Police Department, was given a court date, and was released.

"The St. Charles Police Department is encouraging anyone who might have information regarding this incident to contact the St. Charles Police Department’s Investigations Division at 630-377-4435," police said.
