Delays Expected on Illinois 31 as 'Stage Change' Starts This Week in Bridge Replacement Project

Illinois 31 will switch back to one lane in each direction from Ferson Creek Road to south of Crane Road starting on Thursday

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that a stage change will take place in the bridge replacement project on Illinois 31 from Ferson Creek Road to south of Crane Road, in St. Charles, beginning, weather permitting, Thursday, June 16.

In the new traffic pattern, Illinois 31 will switch back to one lane in each direction from Ferson Creek Road to south of Crane Road. Lane widths will be reduced on Illinois 31 and Wildrose Springs Drive.

The scope of the project includes replacement of the existing bridge that carries traffic on Illinois 31 over Ferson Creek. The overall improvements are scheduled to be completed by Summer 2017.

Motorists can expect delays and should avoid the area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
