District 303 Appoints New School Board Member
Scott Nowling has been appointed to serve on the District 303 School Board.

Community Unit School District 303 School Board announced Scott Nowling has been appointed to serve on the District 303 School Board. Nowling previously served as an elected member of the District 303 School
Board from 2007-2011, including as Board President from 2009-2011. In addition, Nowling
served as a co-chair of Summit 303 in 2012, according to a news release.
His experience as an elected official is an invaluable resource given the short amount of time he will serve as part of this appointment, school officials said.
“I am proud of the work the Board has done during this process. This was an extremely difficult decision for the Board," School Board President Kathy Hewell said. "All six of our final candidates have background and experience that would enhance the work of the district."

Howell said board members deliberated for over two hours before selecting Nowling by unanimous vote.
Nowling was to be sworn in as school board member at the July 17 meeting. He is expected to remain in the seat until the new school board member is selected during the April 2019 election.
