District 303 Considers Closing Schools, Expanding Thompson Middle School
School officials are looking into closing Wasco and Lincoln elementary schools and Haines Middle School.

As enrollment continues to decline with St. Charles School District 303, school officials are exploring closing three local schools.
There are four options being considered to deal with the enrollment decline, and the decrease in state funding, the Kane County Chronicle reports. Those options are:
- Close Lincoln and Wacso Elementary schools
- Close Haines Middle School, retrofit Thompson Middle School and move sixth grade to the elementary schools
- Close Wasco, Lincoln and Haines and expand Thompson to 1,300 students. Keep sixth grade at the middle school
- Do nothing
The school district is planning to hold a series of 15 community meeting at each elementary and middle school and is seeking the public’s feedback on the closures in an online survey.
