District 303 School Board Member Resigns
The school district is now seeking a new school board member to fill the vaccancy.

From Community Unit School District 303: On June 3, 2018, James Gaffney, Jr. resigned his seat from the Community Unit School District 303 School Board, after serving in this capacity for 15 years. The School Board wishes to thank Mr. Gaffney for his dedication to our students, staff and community throughout his tenure.
We would like to share information about the process for filling the vacant seat on the School Board. In accordance with School Board Policy 2:70, the vacancy will be filled following a public vote at a School Board Meeting in July. The appointed School Board member will serve on the School Board from the date of appointment until the next consolidated election, which is April 2, 2019. Applications are now being accepted by the School Board.
Application Process
Qualified and interested community members should submit a resume and a letter explaining their interest in serving on the District 303 School Board by 3:00 p.m. on June 26, 2018. Please send both the resume and letter of interest to the attention of:

The School Board will receive all applications, review applications, and select candidates to interview on a date to be determined. Updated information will be available on the District 303 website at http://district.d303.org/. The community member selected to serve on the School Board must meet the following qualifications (Policy 2-40):
Be a United States Citizen
Be at least 18-years old
Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
Be a registered voter
Not be a child sex offender
Not be a school trustee

Candidates must understand District 303 policies in regards to the general duties and responsibilities of a
School Board and a School Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, and
ethics.
