Elgin Master Chorale Sings Duruflé Requiem April 15 at ECC
Andrew Lewis to conduct 3:30 p.m. concert in Blizzard Theatre, concluding EMC's 71st season. Children's chorus also will perform.

Elgin, April 2 – The Elgin Master Chorale, conducted by Music Director Andrew Lewis, will conclude its 71st season with a performance of the “Requiem” composed by Maurice Duruflé, on Sunday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Blizzard Theatre at Elgin Community College.
The Durufle “Requiem,” completed in 1947, is acknowledged among the choral masterworks of 20th century. It is known as one of the most moving and personal settings of the requiem mass, having been composed in memory of Duruflé’s father.
Members of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will accompany the Elgin Master Chorale in this concert.

Mezzo soprano, Katherine Wells, will appear as soloist. Wells, a section leader in the master chorale, has performed as a soloist with the American Institute of Musical Studies Festival Orchestra; in a variety of roles in operas including The Merry Widow, Cosi fan Tutte, The Magic Flute and Suor Angelica; and in oratorios including Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. John Passion, and the John Rutter Requiem.
The EMC Children’s Chorus also will sing on this program, performing songs celebrating the beauty and power of music.
