Entertainment, Venues Set for 3rd Annual St. Charles Jazz Weekend

The 3rd Annual St. Charles Jazz Weekend is set to host live jazz music Sept. 11 - 14 in Downtown St. Charles. Eight venues plan to host jazz groups for lunch, dinner, and late evening entertainment.

The eight participating venues include: Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, Isacco Kitchen, The Filling Station Pub & Grill, McNally’s Traditional Irish Pub, Nuova Italia Ristorante, O’ Sole Mio, The Office Dining & Spirits and Szechwan Restaurant. Three-time Grammy Award winning Saxophonist Frank Catalano will headline at The Filling Station Pub & Grill on Thursday evening. The venues will host jazz soloists to quartets that cover a range of jazz styles. The venues will provide the music complimentary for their in-house guests.

The DSCP summer program, STC Live, will come to a close during this weekend. STC Live provides free, live entertainment on the 1stStreet Plaza and participating businesses on Wednesday and Friday evenings, May through September. Live jazz will be featured on the plaza on Friday, September 12 and Sunday, September 14 to make anyone’s visit downtown a true jazz experience.

There is obviously a demand for live, jazz music, as we’ve seen through the response to the event the past two years. In addition, downtown St. Charles has many wonderful venues that are ideal for this jazz music experience,” stated Lynne Schwartz, Executive Director of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, which serves as the coordinating organization for the event.

The Kane County Chronicle and Shaw Media have again partnered with the Downtown St. Charles Partnership on this event to help reach audiences that have an interest in jazz music. This year, Fox Valley Buick and GMC and Franks Employment are welcomed as Gold Sponsors of St. Charles Jazz Weekend.
