Family Of Pigs Roaming Free In Wayne

Officers with the Wayne Police Department tried to corral the pigs this past week but were unsuccessful, authorities said.

On Tuesday, authorities said the pigs were spotted in the area of Army Trail Road near Robin Lane. The "team of bandits thwarted attempts from our officer to (corral) them and they fled into a wooded area," according to the Facebook post.

WAYNE, IL — A family of wily pigs have been on the loose in Wayne, and have thwarted local police officers' attempts to round them up.

The Wayne Police Department alerted the public to the situation this past week in a Facebook post, and asked Wayne-area residents to let them know if they have information on the pig's owners. On Tuesday, authorities said the pigs were spotted in the area of Army Trail Road near Robin Lane.

The "team of bandits thwarted attempts from our officer to (corral) them, and they fled into a wooded area," according to the Facebook post.

"We are disheartened that we didn't have video of those attempts," authorities wrote in the post.

Police believe the pigs have been on the lam for almost a week, roaming freely in the western portion of Wayne. Anyone with information regarding the pigs can contact the Wayne Police Department at 630-584-3031.
