Few New Details Released in Fatal St. Charles Shooting

Authorities are investigating what lead Randall Coffland to shoot and kill his teenage daughters Friday.

ST. CHARLES, IL - Few new details explaining what lead a father to shoot and kill his teenage daughters inside their St. Charles condo are being released.

Authorities said Randall Coffland, 48, also shot his wife, Anjum Coffland, 46, in the legs and can be heard saying in a 911 call, "I want you to live and suffer like I did." He then turned the gun on himself. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Kane County Coroner's Office.

Anjum and Randall Coffland had been living at a separate residences in St. Charles at the time of the shooting at Randall's condo at 450 E. 1st Street in St. Charles on the evening of March 10.

"We have talked to her (Anjum) but this is a slow process considering what she has gone through," Kintz said. Anjum has been recovering at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

Investigators have also not turned up any "triggers" for Randall that would have lead to the violent acts, including any history of violence or any mental health issues, Kintz said.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a visitation service for both Brittany and Tiffany Coffland has been set for this Friday. The visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Road in St. Charles.
