Former St. Charles East Teacher Sentenced in Child Porn Case
Gregory Burgener was ordered to serve four days in jail.
KANE COUNTY, IL – A former St. Charles East teacher has been sentenced to four days in jail for possessing child porn, the Daily Herald reports. Gregory Burgener, 65, who once was nominated as Educator of the Year by the Kane County Regional Office of Education, was also ordered to 30 months of probation and to pay $2,527 in fines during his sentencing. He pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography in August.
Burgener, of Elmhurst, was arrested in May 2017 following an investigation by the Elmhurst Police Department.
He formerly taught English at St. Charles East and was an advisor for the debate club.

As part of his sentence, Burgener was also ordered to serve 30 months of sex offender probation, according to the Daily Herald.
