Safe Haven Dog Rescue has been contacted by our rescue partner in Alabama with an urgent plea to help. Their shelter is overflowing and they are beginning to euthanize for space.
These deserving dogs and puppies can come to safety on Sunday 10/9/16, but we need foster homes to do it!
These dogs and puppies are at risk:

Piper - Hound/Shepherd Mix. Piper had 9, YES 9! puppies in the shelter! Her puppies have been weaned and are also looking for foster homes, but we never take puppies without also taking their mom. She needs a loving home to rest after being a wonderful mom. She is said to be well behaved, follows you around, and is a shelter favorite! Can she crash at your house for awhile?
Walnut - She is a petite Plott Hound Mix, About 35lbs. Walnut is a sweet and loving little girl. She is extremely smart, full of energy, and loves to play. She is a shelter favorite!

The following puppies also need foster in order to come to safety...and the shelter is no place for puppies:
Tator and Tiny - Female Possibly Terriers, about 8 weeks old and at risk of catching illness in the shelter!
Piper's Puppies - Possible Hound Mixes 3 male/3 female, about 7 weeks old and at risk of illness in the shelter! Can be fostered in groups of 2, 4, or all 6 if you so choose.
We pay for all vetting, food, toys, leash and collar while you foster. You provide love, socialization, and start the dog or puppy on basic training. We are there to help you and discuss any challenges that you are facing. We want a successful experience for you and the dog in your care.
Our foster families have the first option to adopt the dog or puppy in their care, so it's a great way to determine if you are ready for a dog, or even a second or third!
If you are interested in fostering, would like more details on how it works, or want to know more about the dogs, please email safehavendogsil@yahoo.com.
If you are not in the position to foster, please SHARE this post with someone who may be.
