ST. CHARLES, IL — Catch a day full of fun on land and water as the St. Charles Park District gears up for the second annual Fox River Frenzy at Pottawatomie Park on Saturday, May 6.

The day-long event features plenty to see and do in this downtown park. Here is a look at the events scheduled for that day:

  • The St. Charles Canoe Club's Current Buster Boat Race will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Attendees can watch as club members compete in a short 5-mile course or a long 9-mile course rowing via canoe, kayak, standup paddleboard or any type of boating vessel.
  • The Dash Bash will start at 12 p.m. During this event, teams of up to four people, including at least one member who is age 18 and older, will compete in a series of land and water challenges in a timed race. The team to complete all the tasks the fastest will win prizes. First place will be awarded a Day in the Park booklet with complimentary tickets to park amenities. Second and third place will receive minigolf guest passes.
  • From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., families will enjoy a DJ spinning music and be able to show off their creative side participating in Chalk the Walk to decorate the park’s pathways. Bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic in the park or pick up some snacks from the refreshment stand near minigolf.
  • There will be an agility dog show at 1 p.m. as well as face painting and a chance to meet with local vendors including representatives from Get Hooked, which provides instruction for the park district fishing classes and programs.

May 6 marks the opening day for putt putt at the River View Miniature Golf Course, a fun 18-hole course that is wheelchair accessible, according to the news release.

Even though the paddlewheel riverboats officially begin cruising on May 13, at this event, visitors are welcome to step aboard the docked boats for tours and to meet Captain Steve and his crew.

While the Fox River Frenzy is a day full of bustling fun at Pottawatomie, it’s also easy to find quiet places in this large park too. Attendees can walk through the native plant garden, next to the community center or enjoy a stroll or bike ride along the Fox River.
