Fox Valley Marathon Held This Weekend; Delays Expected on Area Roads
The Fox Valley Marathon will begin in St. Charles and continue south to Aurora this Sunday, Sept. 21.

The fifth Annual Fox Valley Marathon will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 7 a.m. until about 2 p.m.
The marathon will begin in St. Charles on 1st Street near Illinois Street . The run continues south to Aurora before returning to the finish line back in St. Charles on the Illinois Street bridge.
Several roadways in St. Charles will be affected by the marathon. The first part of the marathon will travel south on 1st Street toward Geneva Rd. (Il. Rt. 31). Geneva Rd. will be reduced to one lane as the runners continue south to the City of Geneva.

Approximatly an hour after the run begins, officers and emergency management personnel will be in place along Riverside Ave (Il. Rt. 25) to assist with traffic direction for the return phase of the run. Traffic on Riverside Avenue will be reduced to one lane as well.
Motorists are advised to allow for extra time and patience when commuting throughout the city. Vehicles that need to cross the Fox River will need to utilize either the Main Street bridge or the Red Gate bridge. Both the Prairie Street and Illinois Street bridges will be closed during the entire event.

First Street Street between Illinois Street and Indiana will be closed beginning Saturday, September 20, at 5 a.m. for set up.
In addition, the CASA Kane County Fox Valley Kids Marathon will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 20th. The Prairie Street Bridge will be temporarily closed at the start of that event; however, the closure is expected to be less than 30 minutes.
Police remind drivers to watch for runners, spectators and emergency responders assisting with the event. Please do not Drive Distracted.
