When you are in the Chicago area, whether as a tourist or a resident, you sure need to take a breather from the city dwelling lifestyle and checkout wonderful sites and activities to engage in the Chicago suburbs. It is not only the city that has something to offer you, but its suburbs too are ripe with wonders yours for the picking. There are several options to choose from, but below are the ones I recommend for their offbeat quotient!

Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio

You do not need to be a history buff to enjoy the Frank Lloyd Wright’s first home. For those of you who do not know, Frank Lloyd Wright is most well-known his designs with over 532 completed structures that are in harmony with humanity. Checking in on this spot will give you a glimpse into his ingenuity and into his first design laboratory—his home. Inspirations are aplenty if you are looking to do up your home on a budget, doesn’t matter if you are a fan of discounted lighting and furniture. Get something to complement your house and be reminded for years to come of your unforgettable Chicago suburb excursion.

Bahá’í House of Worship

This beautiful house of worship of the believers and followers of the Bahá’í Faith is located at Linden Ave. Wilmette, Illinois. This House of Worship is open to the public; however, the place is reserved exclusively for worship where only scriptural text can be read and sermons are not allowed. The Wilmette Bahá’í House of Worship is the oldest and largest surviving of its kind. It is also called as the Mother Temple of the West. It is a huge white domed structure with nine towers and with serene views of the Wilmette Harbor.

Arlington International Racecourse

This much talked about racecourse is located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Of course, for some people traveling is never really complete without trying a hand on a game of chance. So, why not try horse betting instead of whiling away your hours in a booze and smoke filled casino room? The Arlington International Racecourse boasts of no less than 6 horse racing tracks and capable of seating at least 50,000 spectators. It can also house over 2,000 horses in its stable. Chicago Botanic Garden

The Chicago Botanic Garden boast of 26 gardens and four natural areas; it spans over 6 miles of Lake Shoreline, around 9 islands, and 385 acres of land. When on a Chicago suburb expedition, coming to this place is a huge hit not only for adults, but also for children. The serenity and beauty of the gardens never fail to amaze and touch the soul. The Chicago Botanic Garden lives up to their motto of “We cultivate the power of plants to sustain and enrich life.” Experience the beauty, excellence, and uniqueness of various types of plants from the endangered to the exotic species.

These are just some of the few activities and sites worth visiting when touring the Chicago Suburb. Other places that come recommended are the Brookfield Zoo for some awesome family time as well as the Ravinia Park which is a perfect tourist spot for older kids and adults. So, once more have a great time checking out the serene Bahá’í House of Worship, betting on horses, and enjoying Mother Nature.
