Get Ready for Pool, Beach Season in Tri-Cities: Openings Set for Saturday
Several local pools, beaches and splash pads will be opening for the summer season in the coming days.

It's almost time for sunshine, flip-flops, beach towels and plenty of fun in the sun. And what better way to enjoy the summer season than a day at the beach or pool. Area beaches and pools will be opening in the coming days and we've included a list below of local favorites worth visiting this summer.
Harold Hall Quarry and Beach

Cost of Admission: Residents, $8; non-residents, $11. Kids 2 and under are free. Season pass information is available here.
Operating Hours: 12 to 6 p.m. Season pass holders can get in at 11:30 a.m.

- In addition, the beach has extended hours from 12 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There is a twilight special from 5 to 7 p.m. where admission is $3 for residents and $4 for non-residents.
Hall Quarry Beach occupies a former stone quarry owned by the Batavia Park District. It has been used as a swimming facility since 1920. It features a sand bottom swimming area covering 60,000 square feet that includes islands, slides, and a diving area. There is a playground and plenty of picnic tables as well. Beach amenities include: kids flume, wiggle bridge and splasher, sandy beach and swimming area, a drop slide, zero-depth edge, concession stand and sand volleyball courts.
Otter Cove Aquatic Center
Address: 3615 Campton Hills Road in St. Charles
2017 opening, closing dates: May 27 through Sept. 4. Hours of operation are available on the St. Charles Park District website.
Admission costs: Admission costs vary for residents, non-residents, time of day, etc. Visit the St. Charles Park District website for more details. Season passes are also available.
The aquatic center includes its 25-yard lap pool with diving boards and drop slides, a toddler pool, an activity pool with zero-depth entry, a water slide that can be used with and without tubes, lazy river, splash park with dumping buckets, spray cannons and more, a sand/water play area, sand volleyball court, family restrooms and concessions.

Swanson Pool at Pottawattomie Park
Address: 8 North Avenue in St. Charles
2017 opening and closing dates: May 30 through Aug. 22. Information on hours of operation is available here.
Admission costs: Costs vary for residents, non-residents and time of day. Get more information here. Season passes are also available.
The pool includes a zero-depth entry activity pool, 50-meter lap pool, diving boards, lily pad rope walk, waterslides and drop slides, family restrooms, sand/water play area, dive concessions, family restrooms and more. The pool is located in beautiful Pottawattamie Park

Sunset Pool
Address: 710 Western Avenue in Geneva
2017 opening, closing dates: May 27 through Sept. 27. The pool will close at 6 p.m. on Memorial Day.
Hours of operation: Open daily from 12 to 8 p.m.
Admission costs: The daily fee for Geneva residents is $8 and the fee for non-residents is $12. Those stopping by after 6 p.m. pay half-price. There is no cost for children ages 0 to 2 years old. T
Sunset pool features a heated pool with eight lap lanes, one tube slide, two body slides, two drop slides, zero-depth areas, toddler play area, sand volleyball and more.
Other Pools, Splash Pads Worth Checking Out
Moore Park Sprayground, East Side Drive and Geneva Drive in Geneva, opening June 4. The spray ground at Moore Park is full of interactive fountains, water cannons, arches that spray and bubblers and admission is free.
Mill Creek Pool, 39W125 S. Mill Creek Drive in Geneva, will open on June 4. The facility features include morning lap swim, morning parent and tot swim, toddler mushroom pool and private hospitality room. The pool is free for toddlers. Residents pay $7 for a daily pass to the pool and non-residents pay $10. There is half price admission after 6:15 p.m.
