Historic Lamp Factory Could Become Townhomes

An architect is hoping to convert the lamp factory in St. Charles into townhouse units.

ST. CHARLES, IL -- The St. Charles City Council is expected to soon consider plans by a developer to transform a 114-year-old former lamp factory in St. Charles into townhomes, the Daily Herald reports. Architect Jeffrey Funke is hoping to breath new life into the historic two-story building at 214 S. 13th Avenue. Construction on Crystal Loft Townhomes could start as soon as this fall.

Down the road, an additional five townhomes would be added to the east side of the building, according to the Daily Herald. The townhouse units would be 2,000 to 2,600 square feet and would range in price from $390,000 to $490,000.

Revised plans for architecture, landscaping and engineering would be considered by the city council within the next month.
