Kane Co. Revamps Homicide Support Group
The support group will hold a meeting on July 30.
KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County State's Attorney's Office has revamped its homicide support group and will host a meeting next week for those who have lost a loved one due to homicide. The homicide support group is meant for adult family members of a homicide victim, and they do not have to live in Kane County to attend the meetings, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. The group is facilitated by a licensed clinical psychologist and a staff member from the State’s Attorney’s Office.
While the homicide support group has been around for the past 20 years, the state's attorney's office has taken steps to formalize the group and has set up a "curriculum" for each meeting, Kane County State's Attorney spokesman Chris Nelson tol Patch.
The first meeting of the "revamped Homicide Support Group" is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. on July 30 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38 in St. Charles. The group meets in the first floor jury waiting room and childcare is not available.
