Kane County Bridge Inspections May Cause Lane Closures This Week

Drivers could see delays as inspections take place on several bridges in Elgin, Geneva and St. Charles townships through April 17.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Bridge inspections are scheduled across several locations in Kane County this week, which may cause temporary lane closures, officials said.

The inspections will take place — weather permitting — from April 13 through April 17. During the work, shoulders and outside lanes may be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to safely access the bridges, according to a news release from the Kane County Division of Transportation.

The inspections are scheduled for the following locations:

  • Monday, April 13: Randall Road over the Metra Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad and Tyler Creek in Elgin Township
  • Tuesday, April 14: Randall Road over the Union Pacific Railroad south of Keslinger Road in Geneva Township
  • Wednesday, April 15: Keslinger/Peck Road over the Union Pacific Railroad in Geneva Township
  • Thursday, April 16: Kirk Road over the Union Pacific Railroad in Geneva Township
  • Friday, April 17: Randall Road over Ferson Creek in St. Charles Township
  • Friday, April 17: Stearns Road over the Fox River in St. Charles Township

Drivers should expect brief traffic delays in the work zones and are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the inspection areas, according to county officials.

Drivers are asked to reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site and obey flaggers and traffic control devices. Officials also remind motorists that it is illegal to talk or text on a cell phone while driving.
